New Comics Day
Sweet.
Got some cool shit.
New Black Adam, new Action Comics, and FUCK YES new Captain America. Among others.
Black Adam came to a pretty alright conclusion. Man, he is gonna be pissed when he finds out how jerked around he got.
X-Men: Emperor Vulcan...sucked. What the fuck was that? Goddamn, that whole storyline with the Shiar was a complete and total waste of time.
Countdown has actually been interesting for two months now. Excellent! Jason Todd as the new Red Roobin. I do like this turn of events. Monarch is a motherfucker. A serious motherfucker. I can't wait to see how these events turn out with Final Crisis.
Captain America. What can I say about the new Captain America? Well, the costume sucks, but we all knew that. I mean, really, what were they thinking? Terrible, just terrible. Looks more like Captain Puerto Rico. Ugh! While I enjoyed the latest issue overall, I must object to the current direction. Captain America started off as a World War II soldier kicking NAZI ass. Then a superhero kicking all manner of supervillain ass. Then as a spy for SHIELD kicking all manner of supervillain ex-NAZI ass. Now? Corporate trust buster! No, really, he's fighting oil companies for SHIELD. Mind you, oil companies taken over by ex-NAZI bad ass Red Skull, but does it really matter? When the fuck did Captain America suddenly become Captain Blue State? Fuck shit holy fucking fuck, is it possible to read about superheroes kicking ass without the writers shoving their lame ass political ideas down the reader's throat? Guess not. I mean, don't get me wrong, the action was really good. Captain Bucky makes for a real shit kicking hero. Plus shooting out the kneecaps of some AIM agents was awesome to see. Tony Stark even seemed like less of a douche in this issue. But the subtext for the whole thing is ridiculous. I really had a hard time buying into the premise. Riots over overdue mortgages? Uh, sure. If you say so, Brubaker! But seriously, as flawed as it was, I thought it was a solid issue. Really a good introduction of the new Bucky Barnes Captain America.
As for Action Comics, Batman and Green Lantern, I haven't read them yet. All good titles and I look forward to them.
MIssed out on Death of the New Gods, waiting on a reorder.
Also picked up a copy of Neil Gaiman's Coraline. Looks nice.
