Slight change of address

Okay, so after fucking around with the settings a little I realized that I can indeed keep this blog and get the URL I wanted.

Ssssooooooooo I deleted the previous blog and snagged the old address for this one.

rmoonyose.blogspot.com

Much better. Now I just gotta make sure people realize this.

I am a fucking moron

So instead of fucking around with the HTML turns out all I had to do was go to Settings.

DERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did it!

I originally started a blog at http://rmoonyose.blogspot.com.

I abandoned it cause I fucked up spelling the title.

Well, after much fucking around I fixed it! I finally fixed it! WOOHOO!

But now what? I have like two blogs now.

Reckon I could change the name of this one back to what I wanted it before? But I prefer the address (moonyose instead of moonyoze) of the other one.

Decisions, decisions...

Imperial Grunts: The American MIlitary on the Ground

So far so good. Kinda reads like a military travel guide. Hasn't really kicked into high gear yet. I'd be reading it right now in fact but I just discovered there's a line back here like what we offer the guests. How come I didn't find out until tonight? Anyway, I'll read moire later. I'm only in the middle of chapter two right now where he is covering Southcom and Colombia. Interesting stuff. Apparently of all the Commands Southcom is, or was, the most provincial. Everyone learned spanish and started slumming it with the natives so they head to move the headquarters from Panama to Miami. DOH!

But so far so good!

Okay, so I didn't see Over The Hedge

I will though, dammitt!

Especially since it's the last week at the ghetto theater.

Also, Lady In The Water debuts there as well. Hell yes! In fact there are alot of movies I want to see there. It seems that they're moving more quickly from the regular theater to the dollar theater. It seems John Tucker Must Die and You, Me and Dupree just barely came out and they've been shuffled over quite quickly. Sweet, now I can save loads of money. Sure it might be a crappy theater but it's less noticeable when no one is there during the day (especially now with the kids in school).

Anyway, I believe if I get up early enough I can hit up the Over The Hedge at 4:55 in the afternoon. The only thing is I'm terrified of getting pulled over as my registration is expired.

I wanna see this

The front lawn is DONE!

Thank fuck. I hate cutting the grass. What a pain in the ass all that is. Took me an hour and I just sweated my ass off. Ah well, at least it looks alright now. I can walk on it again.

Also, as it turns out, we're supposed to take care of our part of the alley. Which we've never done. Ever. Looked like shit. The Church sent over the people who do their grounds and they cut it for us. It'll tack an extra $30 bucks on the rent but that's no big deal. They also removed the remains of the tree that fell in our yard two or so months ago. Not that they were lazy, we just took a while to tell them about it >_>. But now there's all that overgrown grass we have to take care of. Great. Well, I was gonna take care of the backyard next week so I'll rip it all out then. It's a bit too much for our dinky little lawnmower with the fucked up wheels so I'll have to rip them out by hand. It's not a huuuuge area but it'll still take time. Ah well, I need to get out in the sun more anyway.

Other then that this day has been kind of a wash. I slept until two. TWO! In the afternoon! I totally missed DS9 on Spike. Dammit! And to top it off my idiot brother ate the last of the tuna. Bastard! I guess I should have gone to bed a bit earlier instead of staying up reading. This means either I won't actually fall asleep until the sun is well in my eyes or I'll wake up after only getting five hours of sleep. Ah well, not like I do anything important.

After that I'm gonna try and see Over The Hedge at the dollar theater Tuesday. There's a showing at about 2:30. Hope I don't get pulled over for having an expired registration. If I were really responsible I would just do the back yard instead of fucking around at the ghetto theater. But movies are more important I say :p. Also, I never saw Over The Hedge and I really wanted to see it.

Read, jerk off, watch anime, go to work. Just like any other day :).

Drum Solo

This one too.

I love this video

Can ya dig?

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

Wow, that movie kicked ass. I can't believe I waited this long to see it. Really top notch, just about as good as the first one. Johnny Depp knocks it out of the park. Saw the ending coming, but I expected it to be used in the last movie. Still surprising in its own way.

The FX were awesome. The monsters were crazy. The villain was the shit. Wonderful, absolutely goddamn wonderful.

Kiera Knightly has bad teeth I should add. Not horribly bad, but she's not helping British stereotypes.

Orlando Bloom must have demanded more screen time to do this movie. He was in it a lot.

Oh, and those fight scenes! I was knocked on my ass. Really, the three way sword fight in the wheel? Crazy! Made me dizzy though.

And the music. I loved the music. Top notch. Sounded familiar but it pumped me up. Totally loved it. Stayed through th credits to listen to it. I think I might have to buy the score some day.

I will say this once. Well, I'll say it a million times over my lifetime. Jerry Bruckheimer is the best action movie producer. Seriously, his action movies are always great. Him and Michael Bay made great stuff. Too bad it seems they split up, they made a great team. Gore Verbinski, however, was made to do these movies. I really oughtta hit up IMDB to see what else he's done cause I know he wasn't a no-name director coming into these films. Just awesome.

Can't wait for Until The End Of The World.

Holy crap...

...I talked to an iFriend!

He had a voice!

He might just be more then a figment of my crazed imagination!

And goddamn but did he ever have the thickest accent I ever heard!

And then he said I have an accent?

Must...destroy.

Wow, that was interesting. I've talked to iFriends before but this was a real shock. Thick accent plus shitty phone meant me going saying "what" a lot. "What? Say that again? One more time?" If the fate of the world hinged on me being able to understand one simple and short conversation then right now we would all be herded together by our new Martian masters and vaporized by their mighty heat rays. There's your earth shattering kaboom!

Oh yes, we must do this again sometime. I promise not to subject you to the sleepy Muzak again too.

Weird...

Guy comes down asking for a snack and a drink. I get him a muffin and a cup of orange juice. And he starts rambling. I hate drunks. Things like that make me not drink. That and drinking costs money.

But it was weeeiiiirrrddd!!!!!!!!!! He was going on about how he talked low cause he was trying to get out of the habit of shouting everything cause he works in construction. And he emphasized his heterosexuality in case his voice sounded queer to me and that he was not in fact queer or was some perver who diddled kids.

Right. Thank you for that sir, I'll keep in mind you're not a repressed homosexual or pedophile.

So I'm looking over my CD collection...

...And I think to myself, "Wow, what a buncha crap."

Well, not that it is crap. Actually I'm quite proud of it. From first to latest (totaling 449 albums) it spans about...14, 15 years? The first two in my collection are Stone Temple Pilots first album Core and the Last Action Hero soundtrack. So whatever year those came out in.

Anyway, I'm looking it over and I can say that out of the first 150 or so I still appreciate maybe a third of that. Lots of shit. And I do mean shit.

To be sure, those are the early years of my collection from when I was a kid. Lots of stuff I thought I should have. Lots of stuff that I heard one or two songs from on MTV. A few CDs that I can barely remember why I got at all. I have a latter years Ramones CD that I accidently got from Columbia House cause I never bothered returning the card. I have a Ministry CD. I don't ever remember buying Ministry. Just how the hell did it end up in there? Well, for whatever reason it's there now. Toad The Wet Sprocket. I think I bought that for one song. Which song? I just don't know anymore.

Looking back, there's a lot of lame. But I know I enjoyed these CDs for some reason at one time or another. Is that why I don't get rid of them? Well, maybe a little. I also have this OCD/pack rat mentality going on with it as well. And...hey...449 albums! That's a pretty big number. The memories, the OCD and the shallow yet meaningless glory of having such a large collection (even if by most standards it's not that big).

Also, in some cases, I've bought CDs that I was never able to appreciate at the time only to rediscover them years later. Dream Theater's album , Awake, for instance. I caught a video of theirs on Headbangers Ball and really dug it. I bought the album and then realized I had no patience for their long and intricate songs (at the time anyway). It took another three years before I threw it on again on a whim and was really knocked on my ass. And now they're one of my favorite bands. So who knows, maybe the Cranberries will make a comeback in a big way and I'll drop everything to follow them across the world? Okay, so that's not even remotely likely. Still, I might listen to something again that might affect me in a way that never did at the time.

And what brought this on?

I need new storage!

I ran out of storage space for my newest CDs. So right now I have four CDs that are just sort of...loose. They have no home to call their own. And I can't throw out shitty older ones to make room cause I organize my CDs biographically. To make matters worse for myself I'm very particualr with what I buy. I prefer simple wood crates. I hate those retarded towers, or slotted boxes that can only hold one standard size individual jewel case. The large, double size jewel cases (Woodstcok 94, Pink Floyd's The Wall) wouldn't fit. Okay, they don't make those anymore (though The Wall is still sold like that last time I checked) but that's besides the point. I want to know I can store my CDs together, in the order I keep them in and without exception to this rule. Building dedicated shelving wouldn't work for me when I move (and since the start of my collection I have moved quite a few times). Crates work well at keeping my collection sorted the way I want and look good, or at least they do to me. But noone seems to freakin make them anymore!

Or at least very few do. Stacks & Stacks offers a set of two long crates that hold about 33 CDs a piece. I bought those last year when I needed storage. They've worked quite well. Cheap too. But it's annoying to have X amount of long, single row crates that take up so much counter space. I would prefer a short and fat crate that holds at least 50 with two rows of 25. I already have a couple of those in fact. The closest I've come is a little ditty from Fellowes that almost comes close to this except it's not wood and it doesn't say anything about being slotted or open space. I think it's open space, but I'll email and ask to be sure. However, the Stacks & Stacks crates are $12 bucks and hold 66 together. The Fellowes crate is $20 bucks and holds 16 fewer discs.

I never used to have this problem. Back when it was easy to find these things. There was a company called Napa Valley, who stamped their name firmly into these things, and I would just go and pick them up. Now I try googling Napa Valley and all I get is wine listings. Great. So I guess these folks aren't around anymore? Dammit!

But I'm in no rush. My collection doesn't expand that quickly. Anyway, shopping around can be fun.

We have blog

Yes. Yes we do.
